Bumblepig

Developer: Kindling

Cost: 1 dollar(used code)

Bumblepig is a vertical shooter, but instead of bullet hell with giant bosses, you’re pollinating plants. You fly up collecting colored pollen spores. Along the way are colored flowers. Depending which color you use, you flower  will turn a different color or the same one.  Pollinating flowers gives you 1 cent coins.   Making 5 like-colored flowers in a row ups a meter, which increases the value of your coins to 5 cents, then 10, then 25.

Things start off simple, but get more complicated when enemies start showing up. These enemies will steal your collected coinage, which effects your score. You see, depending on how much money you earn, you will earn ribbons, white, then red, then blue. Collecting ribbons will unlock fancy hats you can buy with your money.

I liked Bumblepig as it’s a laid back experience. It does get harder, but I never found it the heart-attack inducing insanity that the average vertical shooter is.
